This topic has a particular resonance in the light of the ongoing russia's war in Ukraine.
As of 24 May 2024, the Unified Register of Persons Missing in Special Circumstances currently contains about 38,000 Ukrainians. The hot phase of the war complicates their search and identification. And the more time passes, the lower the chances of finding people. The experience of other wars evidences this.
We invite you to join us and help us raise awareness about this pressing issue.
Ukraine urgently needs the help of the international community to put pressure on international organisations, world leaders and media to demand russia's cooperation and to oblige russia to provide objective and truthful information about those it is holding in the temporarily occupied territories and in the russian federation.
International organisations, such as ICRC and Red Cross are obliged to fulfill their mission and facilitate communication between those in captivity, their families, and the outside world, as well as help find the bodies of the dead and return them to their families. If this can be achieved, it would be possible to know more precisely who is missing and dead and who is in captivity.
This project has been endorced by a Nobel Peace Laureate Oleksandra Matviichuk.
All donations go to the UAID International and will be directed at supporting Ukrainian families whose loved ones are missing.
We look forward to discussing the missing persons issue with you at our event.
